At the village named Thompson

The village is named after Major William Frank Thompson - a British officer who acted as a liaison officer between the British Army and the Bulgarian communist and antifascist partisans during World War II. Major Thompson was captured and executed by the gendarmerie forces, almost 70 years ago:
