When I went to conduct psychosocial activities to survivors of flashfloods in Cagayan de Oro City I did not have time to take as many photos I wanted for two reasons: first, I was busy facilitating the workshops and second, being an outsider I was still trying to feel my way through the locals for them to trust me and I thought photographing them prior to that would be insensitive. These three shots were the only ones I took before leaving the city to move to the next assignment which was Iligan. I wish I could have stayed much longer to gain the people's trust to allow me to capture in film their everyday condition at the evacuation centers. These tent houses located within a churchyard were much better in comparison to others I visited in northern Mindanao where many were crowded inside local gyms while others improvised their shelters out of scraps they salvaged from the flood. Many evacuees lost a loved one, their property and means of livelihood.
