Parangkusumo Beach: More than Just a Beach in Yogyakarta
7 13 Share TweetPlaying on the beach, feeling the warmth of the sun…enjoying the view is fun, but what if you can play on the beach and the desert at the same time? Do you wanna know how it’ll be like? Read on…
When you visit Indonesia, especially Yogyakarta, there’s a unique beach that you must visit. Parangkusumo Beach is located 25 kilometers from the city of Yogyakarta. Basically, Parangkusumo Beach is adjacent to Parangteritis Beach (the most popular beach in Yogyakarta).
What’s unique about Parangkusumo Beach are the sand dunes or what people used to call as “Gumuk Pasir” in Yogya. People usually said it was a desert because it really looks like a desert. And this is the only sand dune in Indonesia.
This is my favorite spot in Yogya; you should go to the sand dune first. It has a really unique feeling if you go there, it’s like another world and feels so peaceful. There are a lot of things you can shoot there from the trees to the sand pattern.
I used an LC-A+ and B&W film to shoot here to get the exotic, simpler, and more unique feel in negative color setting. I also like to shoot here between 14:00 to 16:00 Indonesian time.
From the “gumuk pasir” you can see the Parangkusumo Beaches. And when the sun starts to set, it’s time to play at the beach and enjoy the sunset.
Bringing your Lomokino? Why not?!
There are so many things in here than you can imagine, so why not get up and bring those cameras and find it yourself? Lomo ON!
