LomoGuru of the Week: Littlekoala

Her LomoHome name is one of the cutest and by far the most interesting I have ever encountered. But besides the adorable handle, her Lomographs are way past cute for they sure are beautiful!

Coming from Spain, Leyre has been a member of our Community for just a few years already. But it is no disadvantage for she has shot lots of lovely Lomographs which she gladly shared in this Community of ours. She has also made several friends through this passion and is sure to stay as long as film as alive. Let us welcome this week’s LomoGuru, littlekoala!

Tell us something about yourself… What do you do for a living? What are your main interests?

I’m an English teacher, and I really enjoy my job, because I’m a very creative person. I love taking pictures and doing DIY activities.

Tell us something about your LomoHome’s name.

I started using this nickname many years ago, even before creating my LomoHome. My boyfriend started to call me “koala” because I used to fall asleep everywhere at any time. Then I added the “little” because I´m only 1.60m tall. Hehehe.

Share to us your most memorable experience in the Lomographic Community.

My most memorable experience was when I won my first International competition with this picture:

This photograph is very important to me. They are my grandparents and here I have captured how much they love each other after so many years. When I get older, I want to be like them!

Have you actually met people in the Community that you now consider as close friends?

Yes, I´ve met a lot of people who I consider close friends: atria007, javihacefotos, sonya1982, sye, elenagm, mochilis, grazie, robter, marieta and many others. This is the best thing of being part of this Community.

Do you think you’ll still be taking Lomographs in the next five years? Why?

Yes, I think so! Because to me, it’s a way of living. I always carry a camera with me to capture everything that surrounds me.

What is your favorite Lomo camera and why? Do you have any memorable experiences while using this camera?

I have two favourite cameras: The LC-A+, because it´s strong but light at the same time, and for it´s vignetting. And the Diana Mini, because it´s small, light and you can take up to 72 pictures. These are the cameras that I usually carry with me.

Please share your most favourite Lomographic photo that you took and explain why.

This one of my favourite pictures first because I love the contrast of the dress. And second, because it makes me wonder what´s written on the paper. It brings me some good memories from that summer, too.

Please share a Lomograph you wish you took and explain why.

I think that it´s very difficult to choose only one picture from this Community because there are such a lot of beautiful photographs and great artitsts around here. But if I had to choose one I would say this because it looks like a painting, and it reminds me of the time I lived in London.

What’s the best Lomographic or photography advice you think you have given?

Remove your lens cap! Hehehe. No, seriously, I´m still learning and it´s me who usually asks for a piece of advice instead of giving it. But if you ask me something, I’ll answer delighfully!

If there’s one song or movie that best describes your Lomo life, what is that and why?’

I can’t think of a song or movie that describes only my Lomo life, but my complete life, and it’s Amelie. It can sound cheesy and I know that it’s everyone´s favourite picture but I feel very identified with her because I try to help others most of the time, forgetting to take of me; but I can’t help it, I like seeing the smile on people’s faces when they say thanks.

Is there any advice you can give to new analogue shooters?

Don´t give up! Sometimes you don´t get the desired effect in your pictures but it’s a matter of trial and error and being patient.
