Why I love analogue photography

When I think of it, things aren’t that different with film. Instead of thousands of digital images, I have hundreds of negatives stored in my camera cupboard. But with film it’s different. Every photo has a piece of hard me in it. With digital you could take hundreds of photos within minutes and have memory card full of meaningless photos. I’m not saying that digital is evil, but with digital it’s very easy just fire away and hope there are at least one good photo. With film, lack of instant preview and small number of frames makes you appreciate your photos more…and every click actually costs you some money!

I develope my own negatives, so I really feel that I have created something on myv own. It’s not just a camera that does the work, I’m getting involved to the whole process. After developing I scan the images, which is the second most exiting part of film phtography. The most exciting part is when you pull the developed film out of the tank. It’s the first time you’ll see your photos! I tried black & white printing, but it took too much time and space, so I moved back to scanning. I liked a lot and I hope I will have more time and bigger appartment in future.

So in conclusion, I think my love for Analogue comes from the whole process. You don’t know exactly how your photos will turn out when you hit the button. After developing and scanning when you finally get to see your photos, it’s really rewarding to see your work. I don’t even mind if some of my rolls end up bad, because the excitement of shooting the roll has already given me so much. It’s not about the goal, it’s the journey that gets you there. With analogue photography it’s all about the journey, not the result!
