Long Time Coming

I mailed out an order of film shot by my Belair using USPS, destination San Clemente. After a few arguments with the recipient in the past, I wrote down the tracking number. It went out on Tuesday. Yesterday I looked it up. Now you’d think that they would have sent it straight to San Clemente — which is only 20 miles from where I live. It should already be there, no? Well, I tracked it and it is in FLORIDA. That’s right, it goes from California to Florida and God knows where else before they deliver it to San Clemente.

San Clemente is in Darrell Issa’s district.

Issa crafted a bill to bankrupt the U.S. Post Office by attaching bizarre terms designed to make the USPS less profitable and less competitive with UPS and Federal Express a few years ago. Because of it, the normally efficient and prosperous Post Office is having trouble making ends meet.

Could this be revenge on Issa’s constituents? Why pick on me? I don’t live in his district and I would never have voted for the man?

The package left Tampa today. Who knows where its next stop shall be?

UPDATE: The package was shipped back to the City of Industry in California. So it is close to home once more. I expect my processor will receive it on Monday or Tuesday.

That sucks! I swap Artist Trading Cards, and some of my US friends have had similar troubles, also, they have sometimes had some going to Africa and back....... apparently there is a region code that is similar to the international one for Uganda...... or the post office is just having a bit of a laugh!
