backhaus

this is or maybe was the heart of the village and is place in the middle of it. you could prepare the dough for your bread at home and then go there once or twice a week and bake your own bread. only women did this and they had a chat about this and that while the bread was in the stone oven. as you can imagine the bread tasted delicious. i have no idea if it is still used. the generation of my mom who went there is probably too old to go there with the heavy bowls you have to carry the dough with. and the time i was there and passed it was closed. would be kinda sad if this tradition is dying. but young people might rather buy their bread because it´s faster and probably cheaper.
i guess if i would still live nearby i would try to relaunch it. you could go there and make your own pizza or whatever. could be used as a happening and young people would get in touch with old traditions. i know that there aren´t that many villages who have such a backhaus.
