   I'm a big German watch collector, and that public clock is just so German in it's design. You would not see that style of dial in America. :)

   @clickiemcpete Absolutely right, if you want to know how we Germans tick, just have a look at our public clocks, we took the Swiss design (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hans_Hilfiker) and reduced it to the max... ;)
