The monument to Alexander Trifonovich Tvardovsky was installed next to the editorial board of the magazine Novy Mir, in which, during the periods 1950-1954 and 1958-1970, worked as editor-in-chief. The place on Strastnoy Boulevard was chosen because Tvardovsky liked to walk on it during his lifetime.
The sculptor VA Surovtsev, D. V. Surovtsev and architects V. V. Pasenko, S. N. Ivanchenko acted as the author of the monument. The monument was created with the funds of the philanthropist Alisher Usmanov and donated to Moscow by the Russian Peace Foundation.
The writer is shown stopped for a minute during a walk and looking down from the pedestal. On the pedestal in front is inscribed: Alexander Trifonovich Tvardovsky, and the writer's signature. On one side of the pedestal are quoted lines from the poem Tvardovsky 1955 "You're a fool, death: threatening people ...". The monument was inaugurated on June 22, 2013.
