Misión de Nuestra Señora de Loreto Conchó

This was the site of the first church in the Californias, in this case Baja California Sur -- a far cry from the Golden Gate Bridge, Universal Studios, and Disneyland. Unlike the missions in Alta California, the missions south of the border were founded by Jesuits rather than Franciscans.
