When I visited Lucban during this year's Pahiyas, I chanced upon a vendor selling dolls that looked much like Barbie dolls except for the crocheted dresses. As I was involved in a campaign against trafficking some years back, I saw the dolls as a visual metaphor for the pressing issue of human trafficking.
An estimated 2.5 million people are in forced labor at any given time as a result of human trafficking - and this includes forced commercial sexual exploitation. Around 1.2 million children are trafficked each year, many of whom are girls.
Hope many people worldwide will join campaigns to combat the issue. I know the CNN has a project on this.
