Tell the community a little bit about yourself? What do you do for fun and is it the same thing you do for a living?

For fun, I like to spend time with my kids who are now 12,10, and 7 years old respectfully. I love winter sports – skiing, skating, swimming, hiking and of course – taking photos along the way !

As of right now I am a mom with a boring part time job that dreams of getting her photography business up-and-going.

How long have you been a Lomography (or are you new to this whole thing)?

Well, that depends what you mean ! I held analog cameras in my hand since I was 6 years old and for my twentieths birthday I got my first SLR camera from my mom. It was a Minolta Dynax 3000. Although it never worked perfectly, (it had shutter problem) I still loved it and I felt like a big shot!

Then it got wet ten years ago which marked the end of my SLR fun. I never thought much of how to take photos, I just tried to have the shot in focus. In 2005 I bought a goofy digital camera with 3 megapixels and video mode, we had fun with it ’till that broke too! I am a creative person (or so I hope) and after I had to give up my ceramic business, I was looking around to feed my creative hunger. I found an old Polaroid 600 stored away that one of our exchange students left behind. I even found some film at the local drugstore. But as you all know the film is no longer available at stores so I checked online and found the "Impossible Project " and somehow ended up at the Lomography site this spring. I started buying cameras and film here and on eBay the first one was a Diana De Luxe package!

But my true love is Polaroid or instant photography it suits may inpatient personality, and the fact that it is really hard to get 120 or B&W processed around here in Canada!

Describe the LOMO LC-A+ with instant back in five words.

Fast-Reliable-Amazing-Fun-Romantic

How did you like shooting with the LOMO LC-A+ with Instant Back+ and what were people’s reactions to the camera?

I loved it so easily and creative I especially love the multi exposures. The people mostly just stared at me they didn’t get what I was doing when I was standing at the edge of the ski slopes. Maybe they thought I was measuring the weather or something!

You recently published a book, what motivated you to make the book and what was your inspiration?

I guess it was to keep Polaroid Photography alive and to document my work I have than this year with my
Polaroid babies!

The strangest, funniest, or hands-down greatest photographic/Lomographic encounter that you have ever had. Arguing with the photo lab personal to please get may film processed! Don’t I have rights!!!! Am mm

If you could shoot any person alive or dead (or imaginary) with your LOMO LC-A+ with Instant Back+, who would it be and why?

My grandmother – she was my mentor.

If you could take your LOMO LC-A and films into any closet in the world, whose would it be and why?

Lady Gaga. Because of her crazy wardrobe, it would take a lot of film rolls or cassettes to get all her costumes on film.

You seem to enjoy the outdoors, if you could only pack one camera for an extreme camping trip, which would you take?

That has to be this one. Why? Lightweight and instant, my two favorite things !

What’s your favorite photo you took with the LOMO LC-A+ with instant back and why?

The one you can see my shadow in it and a big grass bushel in the background. My second shot ever with the Instant Back+, I was so proud of myself .

If your photos shown here could have a soundtrack of three songs, what would they be?

  • Yellow Submarine= Beatles
  • Alles fahrt ski = Swiss folk song about skiing (very cheesy)
  • Baba-O’riley = The Who

What got you into photography in the first place?

The never-ending need to be creative!

Your advice to future LOMO LC-A+ with instant back shooters.
Get as close as possible to your object and use the multi exposure feature it is so much fun!

Thanks,
Natalie
