Around the World in Analogue: Luxurious Recoleta

Recoleta is one of the hippest and affluent neighborhoods in the city of Buenos Aires – a very important tourist destination in the city. Historical monuments and landmarks decorate the public spaces. Museums housing some of the important works of art by Argentine and European artists such as Berni, Segui, Titian, Goya, Rembrandt, Gauguin, and Manet are must-visits. For A colorful nightlife, the cabarets are always open. Green spaces also can be found in parks and plazas. Join Lomographer Kyran Culhane a.k.a. teachkiki shares their experience with the beautiful neighborhood with the Lomography Color Negative 100 35 mm.

Recoleta is one of Buenos Aires’ most beautiful barrios which invites you to stroll and ponder its streets and avenues while admiring its beautiful architecture. Traditionally one of the more affluent neighborhoods in a city steeped with history and attractions. This roll of film was shot while on a walk during an Argentine Autumn.

Buenos Aires has probably grown tired of its comparison as Paris of the South but as you take in the view of some of the most remarkable mansions and buildings in Recoleta (most of which are now occupied by Embassies or hotels) it is easily drawn.

Wandering along Calle Pacheco de Melo meeting Avenida Callao followed by the intersection of Avenida General Las Heras is a classic Buenos Aires vantage. Buses and Taxis whizz by with above normal velocity characteristic of La Ciudad de la Furia.

Avenida Alvear hosts some of the city's more beautiful buildings now occupied by the Embassies of France, Brazil, and the Vatican with the quirky addition of the infamous Residencia Maguire directly next door to the Palacio Duhau Park Hyatt. As the Autumn sunsets, we finish our stroll at one of the city’s most famous landmarks, the Recoleta Cemetery. Requiescant In Pace.
