In our digital world I enjoy analog simplicity. www.analogsimplicity.com My photos were primarily taken with analog film cameras from the 40's, 50's and 60's. Cameras like the Agfa Clack, Zeiss Contaflex and Wardflex from Montgomery Ward were sold to families to capture treasured memories.
Today, we have smart phones that produce high resolution photographs with apps capable of masking and correcting even the slightest imperfection. The results are enhanced images that are nearly a perfect representation of a person, place, or event.
I am drawn to the analog technology of the past. Although these cameras were state of the art at one time, years of use has worn out many of the mechanical parts affecting functions like shutter speed and aperture causing unpredictable effects like blur and light leaks.
I believe that the mechanical deficiencies of these vintage cameras produce analog film images that are magnificently imperfect. In this art form, compelling composition and simple story telling eclipse perfection.
