Meet Serhii and Tetiana, my lovely parents. They live in Eastern Ukraine, where they’ve already had to endure the barbarism of Russia-backed separatists back in 2014. Now, they are facing an abhorrent threat again- this time an all-out war from Russia itself, with all its despicable, gruesome nature finally unmasked and brought to light for the world to see. I pray that I get to see my parents again and give them the warmest hug once this grisly madness is over. I don’t think I’ve ever said ‘I love you’ as often to them as I have been since the war started. Every time I get off the phone with them, I utter these words to let them know this one more time, fearing that I may not ever speak to them again. I want the world know this too: my dear parents, I love you. And there are quite literally millions and millions of Ukrainians with stories like this. Some are more, some are less fortunate than others. Some are lucky enough to live to tell their stories, while others are gone forever.
