French model, actress and animal rights activist Brigitte Bardot believes that a photograph can be an instant of life captured for eternity that never will cease looking back at you. But being an iconic beauty and one of the famous sex symbols of the 60s constantly pursued by paparazzi, she regretted all the fame: "I have no private life at all. I am a hunted woman. I can't take a step without being questioned and surrounded. Fame had brought me so much unhappiness."

The morning before our flight back to Manila fangcarpenter and I decided to revisit the Gwanghwamun Square. We were here briefly just the other day with Korean lomographers doing a spontaneous lomomatrix shoot. We didn't have time to roam around then as we were running to catch our bus for the city tour. Anyway the day of our return was the start of the holiday in preparation for the lunar new year which is a tradition observed all throughout South Korea. By this time most Seoul dwellers have gone to their provinces to visit family and relatives and bring them gifts. That's why practically it was only me, fangcarpenter and a few tourists strolling around the plaza - like the whole space belonged to us. Well, aside from us there were actually many police officers in uniform guarding the area, many of whom were concentrated around the US embassy. I thought there was a terror threat or red alert as their number was exaggeratedly too many for a people-less park that day. Good thing none of them bothered us except for one who politely addressed me in a manner of certainty "Filipino?". I responded with a smile assuring him I was perfectly no threat with my toy cameras. It was the coldest of all the 6 days we stayed in Seoul that clicking the shutter button with winter gloves covering my hand was a big effort. Nonetheless, it was a good day to bid goodbye to a beautiful city. Hope to see you again Seoul!

The N Seoul Tower is a popular tourist spot that attracts herds of local and foreign visitors. Once up there, one can have a spectacular vista of Seoul. If you go up the tower itself, then you'll have 360-degree view of the metropolis. There are lots of interesting shops and restaurants to buy hot foods and drinks on cold winter days. Plus the entire area was seemingly designed for great photo-ops. To go there, fangcarpenter and I rode a cab so we can consume the money we loaded on our T-money cards. We were brought to the cable car station where we lined up to buy the tickets and ride the cable car up to the tower area. Then we climbed a few wooden stairs to the plaza. The huge tower was so overwhelming when we reached the top. The views were just awe-inspiring. Used a roll I previously exposed in Manila to create textured shots of my N Seoul Tower lomographs.

Vision is so powerful to influence our decisions about our lives. Its clarity may lead us to sound judgment of our volition and action. But vision may falter when we fail to check it from time to time. Always have a vision check and see what lens you should use to see the world in better perspective(s). These shots are experimental play on texts and images - fusing together quotes about vision with images I took during a recent cultural outreach to flood survivors in Calumpit - with the hope of creating bite-size inspirational messages.

When you want to buy Korean gift items other than bottles of kimchi, the best place to visit in Seoul is Insadong. It's a street full of little shops that sell a variety of souvenirs and knick-knacks that reflect the colorful Korean culture. A stroll along the curved street on a cold winter morning sipping hot cappuccino is a bliss.

A city map and an iPhone which can be rented at the airport will be the savvy tourist's gadgets to conquer the streets of Seoul. But if both fail and you seemed to be lost or clueless as to how to get to your next destination, there is no need to panic. Just look for the people in red caps and red long jackets marked Tourism Assistance Officer during winter as these people could give you directions on how to navigate your way around the city. You'll find them in most key tourist spots walking around and looking for people to help. The ones we met were all very nice and helpful despite occasional difficulty in communicating in English. But worry not. They will mark in their map your present location and your destination, suggesting ways how to get there most efficiently. And they'll give the free map to you for your reference. I noticed they usually travel in pairs.

I am not a hardcore revolutionary. But the activist in me has found inspiration in the lives of people who have unselfishly dedicated themselves for the greater good even to the point of dying for their cause. After seeing his face as a symbol of political activism through shirt prints, pins, flags and banners in my youthful years, I learned more about Che Guevarra when I bought and read through the pages of a biographical book on him. Che lived a multi-faceted life as an Argentine Marxist revolutionary, physician, author, intellectual, guerrilla leader, diplomat and military theorist. Together with Fidel Castro, he played a major role in the Cuban revolution that shaped politics and military landscape in Latin America and consequently the rest of the world. I don't see myself holding guns to wage war and fight for what I believe is right. But through my humble peaceful ways, I am committed to be part of the solutions and not the problems of this world. This set is a tribute to Che and all activists. Textured and layered his images with maps of Metro Manila and street vignettes on my way to a project meeting. This is the first of two albums.
