So Many Cool Cameras, So little Time!

I wanted to share some portraits of some of my favorite vintage cameras and others of interest. It's fun to trace the evolution of design through the years and see how the cameras have changed as various innovations were made. And it's even more fun to collect them, in some cases clean them up and restore them, and then take them out and shoot some rolls. I suspect you won't be able to do that in 2050 with your 1998 digital cameras. :)

First up is the Waldorf Minicam from the 1940's. It's a 127 roll film camera with simple shutter, quite like the Sprocket Rocket in function. Wonderful little pocket camera and I posted a roll from it recently. You get 16 images on one roll of film. LSI should make a 35mm version of this fabulous little half frame cam.

This is without a doubt one of my favorite albums of all time!!! I freely admit that I am addicted to camera porn! ;-) Thanks for all the interesting information on the cameras too.

@arurin, yes indeed, I'm very fortunate to have been able to collect all these and many others over the past few years. It is a joy to try to get decent images out of them too. :)

Thank you so much my friends!

@wuxiong, thank you, yes, the purpose of this album was not to show off how many cameras I have but to convey information about vintage cameras to the community...for some of us, having the experience of using modern cameras only is like if you heard punk rock music for the first time but you didn't know about the roots of rock and roll, garage rock, British Invasion, rockabilly, blues, etc. I think we all benefit from seeing what has come before and the evolution of these amazing pieces of industrial design. I'm not done yet by the way, I have probably another 100 cameras to go in future albums! :D

Lovely collection! I'm looking forward to seeing (and reading about) the rest of your collection. Also, I feel a lot less guilty now about owning about 30 camera's and still wanting more...

Dirty McPete!! I tell you what I like about these old cameras, is that when you use them you hold them to your face, so you get to smell that wonderfully fusty age!

@jackpumpkinhead, hehe, they have all different smells...some smell clean and others have various degrees of mustiness and age. I try to clean them up and go through a lot of Windex and q tips but some you can never get the stench out of.

I love this camera. My friend has one but refuses to loan me it! I also agree with you when you said LSI should do a 35mm version of this baby!
