Taken on a visit home to St. John's in the summer of 1999. Many of the streets there are so steep that the sidewalk is a flight of stairs

@fmonteiro Thanks very much. Although they tell us here not to think, I stared at this one for a long time deciding how to crop it to emphasize all the different visual axes. (It came down to carefully leaving things out)

Thanks very much. As I mentioned in the description, I took a lot of time deciding just how to crop it in order to bring out the geometry.
Another thing I like about it is that, as devoid of context as it is, it speaks very strongly to location. With the oddly bright choices of paint people have used, to the absurdly steep street gradient that leads to this construction, to the general sense of decay and the narrow wooden clapboard, I doubt that it could have been taken anywhere else in the world except St. John's
