The Broken Mug

I made this mug in 1992, and broke it the same year. I liked the shape of this remaining piece so I've kept it ever since. The picture is my first use of Harman Direct Positive paper. It's unreasonably contrasty, but heavens to Betsy the blacks it will give you!. I rated it for this shot at ISO 0.5, which yielded an exposre of F16 at 120 seconds (EV=1). I pre-flashed the paper five stops down (took an out-of-focus pic of a Gray Card at F16, 4 sec.) The paper was developed 4 min in Ilford Multigrade, with continuous agitation. The pre-flash had no discernable impact - I think you'd have to flash only 2 or 3 stops down from your intended exposure for it to make a difference. The lens is probably my oldest piece of gear, a Goerz Dagor Ser III 150mm f6.8 made in about 1910. I'd love to hear if anyone here has used anything older.
