I have some pretty terrible photos; since I considered each one of these a finalist in such a great field of possible entrants is the result of long hours of labor in sifting through endless mountains.
it's often said that a picture tells a thousand words. i think that that's usually an underestimation; photos tell stories, emotions, and feelings that can be endlessly extrapolated upon. it takes a special photograph, then, to not be able to say anything more meaningful than, say, "brown warning sign, blurry. dirt and a fence." the picture was merely taken in passing, without a moment's interest even to focus. perhaps this is what gives it such an attitude devoid of any discernible or interesting meaning. many terrible pictures may be judged, but even the worst of the worst cannot overcome the atrocity of a picture such as this.
