Do Some Sprocket Shooting with Your Diana F+ Using a Makeshift Pen Cap Spacer

Use this simple and easy trick to use 35mm film on your Diana F+ and at the same time do some sprocket hole photography!

Medium format cameras use bigger and wider films than your regular 35mm shooter. They have a different loading mechanism, too. But there’s a way around that as proven by a tipster in the magazine that used foam as spacers for the 35mm film canister.

Here’s another way to make your *Diana F+* camera a little niftier. Instructable user mikeasaurus shares an easy way to use a ballpoint pen cap as a spacer for the Diana F+ so you can use 35mm film.

Here are the things you’ll need:

• Ballpoint pen cap
• Cutter
• Tape

Steps:
1. Get the ballpoint pen cap and insert it on top of the film canister. Cut 10mm slits on the cap to hold the film in place.

2. Make sure you mark the part of the cap where you’re going to make your cut. mikeasaurus measured about 3cm before he made the final cut.

3. Place the canister snugly in the film compartment.

4. Tape your 35mm film leader to the 120 film spool of your Diana F+.

5. Tape up the film window to eliminate light leaks or not if you like the effect.

You’re done with the elbow grease part. Now comes the advancing and rewinding of the film. Luckily, some people found a way to precisely count the clicks or knob turns needed to advance the film properly. Click here for the table.
