Love the Imperfections with LomoKino LomoAmigo Claudi1007

Some people hate imperfection and just look for smooth and lovely perfection. But hey, where’s the thrill in that?

No thrill, I suppose. And imperfection is what claudi1007 found in our glorious analogue movie maker, the LomoKino. The cranking, the grain, the dirt on your film — all of those are just beautiful! Awesome, right? And she even used it for school!

Tell us about yourself. What do you do for a living? What are your interests?

Hey I’m Claudi from Germany and I am a design student. In my study, I make graphic design but also photography and video producing. In my freetime I like to play with my cute little dog. She is really quirky and a nice photography model for me. At our walks, I like to take photos of landscapes — the nature. If I see the same day by day, it fascinates me every day of a new.

Describe the LomoKino in five words.

Dreamy – lovely – mysterious – fun – action!

How did you like shooting with the LomoKino?

Sadly I didn’t shoot so much films with the LomoKino in my freetime until today (but I will change it the next time.) But I shot a lot of rolls for my study project – a booktrailer. I chose the LomoKino for this project because of the imperfect look. In black and white, the film looks so dirty and mysterious – this was the perfect look for the film. I think the movies are like pictures of another world. And I really like the imperfect pictures. So I let all the flaws like scratches and grime on the negatives when I scan them.

What or who has inspired you to purchase and use the LomoKino?

I liked the funny films of the LomoKino since the camera was launched in the Lomography website. For my project I wanted to make an analogue film and the LomoKino was perfect. So I had a perfect reason to buy a new camera! ;)

Any funny or strange encounters you’ve had with it?

As I have presented my finished movie, I picked up the LomoKino and a lot of students asked me what it is and how it works. Tthey were fascinated that I made my movie with this analogue jewel. I am very proud of my camera.

If you could shoot any person alive or dead (or imaginary) with your LomoKino, who would it be and why?

I wish I could go with Salvador Dali in his really awesome surreal paintings. I like to shoot the different clocks and the mysterious animals.

Any future plans with your LomoKino? More shoots or a full-length film perhaps?

My future plan is to shoot funny films with the LomoKino after this dark movie. I want to pick it up for a festival this summer and I want to make a happy festival movie in color. Oh, I can’t wait!

Shoot everything you love in your life! Your pet, your favourite place, the ocean, the sun! Shoot shoot shoot.
