Victoria and Alfred Hotel, Cape Town

8

A hotel with the best ever view you could possibly ever wish for. While preparing for going to Cape Town, I obviously wanted to stay somewhere with a Table Mountain view. It is called such because of the clouds rolling across the top of the mountain, which looks like a table cloth. A lot of the hotels advertised “partial Table View”, but in reality, you would have to hang out by the window with the possibility of a broken neck to see even a glimpse of this majestic mountain.

But as we say in Russia, “only the ones who don’t give up, drink champagne”.:)

So I was very pleased to have found a decent deal for Victoria and Albert Hotel. Yes, it was a little pricey, but it was totally worth it!

My room was huge and so was the window. Not only could I see the Table Mountain in full, but also the Devil’s Peak and a little bit of Lion’s Head Mountains too. As well as a beautiful marina filled with boats in front of me, with both tourist boats and those of working fishermen. And I could see the seals frolicking in the water, too! And the dolphins! OMG, I was screaming like crazy from all this excitement!

So now you understand how I ended up with a multitude of quite similar shots of the views from my window.:)

The breakfast was amazing, so many things to choose from including Oysters Rockefeller (oysters on the half-shell that have been topped with various other ingredients like parsley, a rich butter sauce, and bread crumbs, and are then baked or broiled), fresh oysters, guava juice, and even champagne.

Very bourgeois, I know…

And, they don’t charge you extra if you want to have breakfast in you room! So I did, cause my view was great.

Victoria and Alfred Hotel is part of the Newmark Hotel Group with two more hotels by Cape Town’s Waterfront, so if you want to use the pool or have a drink or meal in any of them, it’s all interchangeable and your bill will be just put on your room number.

I checked them all out and as it was the off season, there is no one else there so the views were all mine.

So my advice to you guys, open up your piggy banks and go, go, go, stay in this amazing hotel with the best view ever!
