A few months ago, I was told I would be going on holiday with my girlfriends family, I was obviously excited, seeing as they usually go to Spain, France, Greece, USA, etc. after I had agreed to go, I discovered we would be going to OXFORD, UK. I was slightly disappointed, however if they were going to oxford instead of Greece, it must be a nice part of oxford. As it got closer to the date I started to wonder why I had said I would go, but as soon as I saw the boat we’d be living on for the next week, I got excited.

It was 70foot long and not very wide. (these boats are also known as narrow boats for this reason). The oxford canal was so much nicer than I had ever imagined. There was so much greenery and nature all around. I had imagined we would be surrounded by industrial building for a week (canals were originally for the transportation of industrial goods).

The water was so still, the birds were singing, the sky was bright and blue, the people were so friendly, but most important of all, I took plenty of photographs, just to show you guys!! I really was amazed that I could enjoy myself so much living on a boat for a week, but I did, in fact I would highly recommend it to anyone. It was something that was outside my comfort zone, and something that I dint really know about, but I came away from that week in oxford wanting to go back and do it all again. Enjoy.
