Down by The Orwell Bridge

On a hot, late-spring-time day not long back, I arrived home from University early one day. My parents suggested we went for a walk down by the river, I was tired from Uni, but decided to go along just to shoot. I took my LC-A+ and a selection of film. The walk starts off at Orwell Country Park, where you walk through the woods down to the shore. It was a glorious day, the sun was shining, the birds were gliding in the mild breeze.

This day could not have been much better. When we got to the shore we turned right, this was something I’d never done before. I usually take the route to the left, as it’s shorter. However this proved to be a brilliant decision. The shore seemed to be littered with fallen trees, remains of old jetti’s and small bridges. We could see in the distance the Orwell Bridge (named because it crosses the River Orwell).

This bridge is the main way to bypass Ipswich towards Felixstowe (one of the biggest shipping ports in the UK). We decided we’d head for the bridge and see how close we could get. On the way, we passed: other people out for a stroll, a field of cows, and much much more. We made it the whole way to the bridge, and standing there looking up at this huge concrete structure, I was in awe! When you drive over a bridge like this, you never fully know how colossal it really is, whereas from the point I was standing I could see it was a well-engineered structure.
