Commemoration of the liberation of Leers, by the English troops - 1944. (2 September 2014).

On 1 September 1944, the various resistance movements agree to launch a general uprising of the region. Throughout the city, on Friday evening, the Resistance attacks the different designated objectives and German convoys who return to Belgium. On 2 September 1944, the city of Leers was liberated, the British soldiers entered the city, preceded by resistants on bicycles, and followed by the french army and the FFI (French force from the inside).
