The Focus Works?

Using my snazzy Russian Smena Symbol for the first time I assumed the "focus length" selection was merely for looks which it appears to be on my Holgas and Diana F+, but no, more than half of the 36 pictures came out blurry and beyond recognition. Live and learn.
