Where was I?

It must have seemed like I was dead — at least if you didn’t know about my flickr account. Had I given up analog for digital? Did all my cameras break?

I had my arguments with my Belair and my Horizon Perfekt, it is true. The later has its reputation as a finicky camera that quickly eats up its battery and the later got stuck on me during a trip to San Diego. But I had several other lomography cameras. So what happened?

My Nikon N8008 was the staple of my analog existence. I set the other cameras aside for a short time so I could concentrate on shooting black and white and some Agfavista Precisa. I developed photos and left them on my hard drive, selecting only a few for upload at flickr and Google+. (I rarely upload to Facebook because they claim ownership of everything that you put there.)

I took one trip to San Diego, then spent my free hours hiking in the neighborhood parks. Joined a new hiking and photography meetup. Went on a couple of photo walks and four wheel tours in a local nature conservancy. (Want to impress some and bore others? Tell them that you are shooting film.) And that’s the meat of it.

Digital makes up a significant portion of my life. I’ve often said that the best camera is the one in your hands be it analog, digital, camera phone, or tablet. I’ve just loaded the film for my trip to Arizona and packed the cameras in a single bag. You’ll see plenty of my stuff on my return: I am taking photo mailers!
