Hello!!

I wanted to do this first blog entry by saying how I fell into the amazing world of lomography.

Well, everything started in the second half of the year 2013… I’m a film student and at that time I was in my 3rd semester of college, and in my college it meant that I would have a whole semester of Still Photography classes and I had the luck to be the student of a professor that teaches photography only with analog photography. I fell in love from the beginning, it was definitely my favourite class of the semester and the best part was that we got to learn how to develop the films and it was so awesome… and on the last day of classes, a friend of mine said I would just love to have a ‘lomo’ and at that time I had no idea what she was talking about, but as soon as I got home, I searched on my dear friend google to find these cute plastic cameras that caught my attention and from that moment on I was obsessed! I truly talked about lomos and analog photography all the time, I would show to my boyfriend all the cameras, which one was on my ‘buying’ list and I would spend time thinking what I would do to buy it because here in Brazil they can get pretty expensive and I just wouldn’t have the money right away…
Well, a few months passed, but my obsession and desire to have a lomo only got bigger… and when my birthday come, guess what came with it? My very own Diana F+ Deluxe Kit!! Yes, my boyfriend asked his friend who was travelling to the USA to buy it so he could give it to me and that was such beautiful gesture of him! As soon as he gave me the camera I started reading all the manuals and the book that came with it and he had already searched for blogs and websites where I could find tips for how to use it and how to get the best shots. He also got me one roll of film and I was so ‘scared’ to use it at first because I didn’t even know how to load the camera… but after I had done tones of reading (which didn’t take too long because I was so excited to get started) I put the film on and shot away: which wasn’t the smartest idea.

That first roll of filme only resulted in 6 pictures, but honestly I think that was a good number for my very first time doing things entirely on my own. I was a bit sad about the results, but I mean, I really just want to have fun with my camera, and I’m still only learning, so I took a deep breath after getting the pics from the lab and went straight into a photography shop to buy more films, and now I’m taking baby steps: no more careless night pictures for a while: I’ll try and make good pics on daylight first! I also got a very good tip from a professional photographer on the lab – he said for me to download a light meter on my phone and use that as a reference, it won’t be so accurate, but at least at the beginning I’ll at least have pictures at the end of a development.

You guys can check out my photos on my home page, but I’ll leave my favourite one here… and I really loved this one picture: I took it from my boyfriend’s room’s window and well, it’s a special place for me, his city and room and all, and I love buildings… so there it is:

Well, I actually meant to start a blog about my experiences on lomography, so once I made my profile on Lomography’s website and saw that they actually let you blog there, I came straight here to wright about my very first experience and how everything started. I guess I’ll keep writing about my everyday love story with my Diana and eventually give tips about useful things that works for me and also ask questions about how to improve my pictures and specially my ability with it.

Thank you for receiving me into this new and beautiful world! I’m looking forward to taking tons of pics and share them with you!

welcome :D I love the diana too, it was also my first Lomo camera as well. I got mine because I wanted to shoot 120 film and didn't have a camera that used 120 film.

Even though I now have many other cameras, I keep coming back to the diana, I think it may be my favourite camera.
