CiniStill Saddness.

Well, I have processed my own film for a while now, and as I am on holiday, and can’t, I thought I would go to the local processors, as I wanted to see some of my photos before I got back, big mistake.

Now, the film comes with no warranty against this sort of thing, and it says so on the side. But you kind of think it will be fine. But the film that I saw that had come out of the machine a few days ago was a sorry sight indeed.

Firstly, it had wide wobbly fogging bands similar to the ones you can get from X-ray machines ( I have only ever seen it in books of film processing diagnostics, never in real life before.) And this film did not go near any X-rays as far as I am concerned. Before it got to me, is anyone’s guess.

Secondly the film showed only a few ghostly outlines of photos, very very under developed/exposed. This film is 800 speed, and I used it in my Diana mini, in very sunny conditions, it was not under exposed photo taking! And I have never had anything like this happen before in that camera. Indeed, I have had fabulously exposed shots from 100 speed film.

Thirdly, and most damning, the film leader, which has been totally exposed to the light, was not developed either! Just the same ghostly brown, like it had been coloured with weak tea.

Needless to say, I am not going to process any others on holiday, and will wait till I can do them myself, because at least then if they go wrong, it’s definitely my fault! And I couldn’t even keep the film, as they would have charged me the full price of processing to keep it! And 6 quid for a bum film is a bit much.

Has anyone else had problems with CiniStill 800 film?
